In the Christian Christmas story, Mary and Joseph have to flee their home because King Herod orders all children under the age of two in Bethlehem to be murdered. Even today, in many countries people and their relatives have to fear for their lives because of their faith or their political views, and so for many the only option is often a dangerous flight.
We went in search of people who care about the fate of refugees and came across a pastor who has a practical sense of charity. At the top of his wish list for the residents of a container village in Lokstedt was a shelter.
With the money that would otherwise have been used for Christmas presents among business partners and friends, we were able to fulfil this wish. Especially on a Christian holiday like Christmas, this may be a small sign of the commandment of humanity.
