Architecture meets school meets architecture

Student intern Meta plans her own school

Meta is spending three weeks at our office as part of her school internship, thinking about and experiencing architecture from her own unique perspective. She chose an architecture firm because she wanted to learn how buildings are created and what it means to not only use architecture, but to design it. Meta is designing her own school on the computer and is intensively exploring floor plans, lighting and community. For Meta, school is a place where everyone should feel comfortable and safe. Her design features plenty of daylight, large windows and open communal areas. At its heart is a large entrance hall for arriving and socialising. In addition to her work in the office, Meta accompanies our site managers to the construction sites of a new grammar school and a residential building renovation. There she experiences how many levels there are to construction and how important the interaction between the office and the construction site is.
