Lecture »Architecture for People« at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences

At the beginning of November, our colleague Sarah was a guest at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences to speak on a topic that has a particular impact on our everyday lives as part of the »Profiles of Architecture« series: architecture for people. After all, we develop school buildings for people who are at crucial stages of development in their lives and whose needs deserve our special attention.

In her lecture, Sarah asked how schools can become places that are much more than just places of learning. Places where community is created, where children find security and structure, but where play, retreat and personal development are also possible for all users. She showed how schools can be understood and designed as a reflection of social diversity – with all its cultural, gender, religious and social facets.

This was followed by a lively exchange with some of the approximately 200 students who followed the topic with great interest and used our participation cards to contribute their own perspectives on the question of what spaces people need in order to feel a sense of belonging and to be able to grow.

Many thanks to Koblenz University of Applied Sciences for the invitation and the inspiring evening!
