Team outing to the completed Grünstraße elementary school

Last week, our project team was on site in Velbert to inspect the completed new building at Grünstraße elementary school. In the rooms, where not only knowledge is taught but also curiosity and fun in learning are encouraged, the focus is on visual relationships in the interior and exterior spaces.

The main building is designed as a three-form elementary school with a two-court sports hall and contains clusters for different year groups. Different shades of green, representing different parts of the complex, are in dialog with the surrounding trees and create a harmonious unity between the urban context and nature. The interior windows in both the foyer and the learning clusters create an unexpected openness and visual connection between the areas inside the building and the outside.

After the summer vacation, the students and teachers will move into the building and fill the place with life. We are excited to see how the new learning spaces will be received and what experiences the users will have in this open, connecting environment.
