A framework for movement
The sports hall is integrated into the existing school campus as an independent structure. The architecture takes up the layout of the campus and continues it towards the sports field. A central cube is supplemented by single-storey extensions that clearly structure the different functional areas: the equipment rooms are located in the north and the entrance area with the adjoining changing rooms in the south. With a grandstand for 250 spectators and a spacious foyer, the building becomes a versatile venue for sport and socialising.

Outside and inside in dialogue
The architectural concept picks up on the natural surroundings: The central cube has a façade made of polycarbonate panels that reflect the lightness of the sky, while vertical wooden slats on the façade of the extensions are reminiscent of tree trunks. The translucent building envelope floods the interior of the building with natural daylight and creates a fantastic long-distance effect in the evening hours. The natural, material concept extends from the outside to the inside and is only interrupted by the colour-accentuated changing rooms. These set highlights in the interior and create orientation by giving each changing unit its own colour.

Naturally sustainable
The hall scores highly in terms of sustainability: the wooden slats not only serve as a design element, but also as effective solar shading, which reduces the heating of the interior spaces. The use of polycarbonate panels enables high-quality, multiple recycling. A high degree of prefabrication of the components also ensures economical and fast construction. The sports hall offers well thought-out solutions such as »mini grandstands« in front of the entrances to the hall as waiting areas. With high-quality fittings and special details such as the coloured coating in the shower area, the new building combines functionality and aesthetics.
