In a dialog of visual axes
Situated on the western boundary of the site, the building blends harmoniously into the surroundings and opens up the school site to the city. The arrangement of the new four-storey building ensures that the main routes for users are clearly structured. A spacious welcome square guides visitors from the south-east along a »glass bakery« into the building and the central entrance hall. This area with a flowing transition to the courtyard forms the vibrant center of the campus. The new building is connected to the existing building (A) by a bridge on the first floor, enabling better networking of the entire campus.
Showcase of possibilities
With its open gallery and a bistro, the central entrance hall, which is designed as a »market hall«, creates a connecting space for the functional areas of the new building and offers numerous possibilities for use. Each cluster has its own space in the hall with a kind of shop window that offers insights into the various specialist areas. School events, conferences and examinations can also take place in the heart of the new building. Stairs and seating invite people to linger and hold informal meetings. The transparent architecture allows visual connections between the floors and creates an atmosphere that reflects the lively everyday life of the school. The entrance hall is not just a space, but a lively center that promotes community and shapes the campus as a meeting place.

Learning in the flow
The cluster model at vocational college Rheine enables a flexible room design that can be easily adapted to the changing educational requirements. Each cluster comprises spacious learning areas in which theory and practice rooms merge seamlessly. At the center of each is a light-flooded area that can be interconnected with the adjacent rooms and offers space for collaborative learning, group work and individual work. Flexible walls and transparent glass elements create visual connections and ensure optimal supervision and natural lighting. Thanks to mobile furnishings and colorful floor accents, the rooms can be individually zoned and used in a variety of ways.
One campus one language
The façade of the new building picks up on the existing material and colour scheme of the campus, which is characterized by red clinker brick façades with white accents. A combination of red clinker brick slips and a metal curtain wall ensures a harmonious integration into the existing building.
